Tóm tắt kiến thức so sánh hơn

So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn

Cấu trúc:

S1 + tính từ/trạng từ ngắn thêm “er” + than + S2

* Lưu ý:

• Những tính từ hoặc trạng từ ngắn là những từ có một âm tiết.
• Nếu tính từ/trạng từ kết thúc bằng phụ âm và trước phụ âm là nguyên âm thì khi thêm “er”, ta nhân đôi phụ âm.

E.g.: big → bigger, hot → hotter …

Tính từ/trạng từ có 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng y, et, ow, er, le, ure thì khi thêm “er”, ta chuyển “y” thành “i”. Ngoại trừ: guilty, eager.

E.g.: happy → happier …

So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ dài

Cấu trúc:

S1 + more + tính từ/trạng từ dài + than + S2

*Lưu ý:

• Tính từ/trạng từ dài là những từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên.
• Các trường hợp bất quy tắc:

Good/ well → Better

Bad/ badly → Worse

Many/ much → More

Little → Less

Far → Farther (về khoảng cách), further (nghĩa rộng ra)

Near → Nearer

Late → Later

Old → Older (về tuổi tác), elder (về cấp bậc hơn là tuổi tác)

Happy → happier

Simple → simpler

Narrow → narrower

Clever → cleverer
